As a leading ship owner and operator/third party ship manager, Argo boats on over 40 year of history and experience. Our ship management history has been various because we have owned and managed several different type of vessels, following the shipping industry market trends during these years of activity till to make Research and Offshore our main cores business.
Argo has achieved high expertise in the management of Research Ship Operating in Polar Waters, she has collaborated with the Public Institution ENEA for the PNRA (the Italian National Research Program in Antarctica) managing 23 campaigns of the MV Italica that reached the Italian “Mario Zucchelli” Station in terra Nova Bay in the Ross Sea always with great success and full client satisfaction.
Argo has collaborated with several Marine Research National Institute and with Italian and Foreign University managing vessels performing oceanography and applied geophysics campaigns also in the Polar Arctic water, among the other, with the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics – OGS – a public research institution, monitored by the Ministry of University and Research. Argo boasts the achievement of the first “Polar Ship” certification for an Italian ship, the RV Laura Bassi owned by OGS who has performed together with the RV OGS Explora also owned by the same institute, several Antartic and Artic Campaigns.
Argo has always been collaborating with national and international public institute and/or university engaged in the marine research activities. The safeguard of the marine environmental has been one of our most important value, constantly promoted through our safety management procedures achieving high experience in managing Research Ships for marine biology.
Argo has managed the costal research vessel for scuba diving and sampling Mv Vettoria owned by the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN), Italian public research centre, operated under the auspices of the Italian ministry of research and education.

The RV Gaia Blu owned by the Italian National Research Council, with its 84m length and 2000 gross tonnage, is the real technological showpiece, pride of CNR for enhancing the climate change of Mediterranean sea. The vessel is equipped with highest accuracy and sea bed bathymetry acquisition, as well as most innovative equipment for the seismic and geophysical investigation.
ARGO SRL, which followed up the activities for the scientific equipment upgrade, managed the vessel during her first campaign “Jamme Gaia” for the Golf of Naples seabed acquisition, covering up to 5000 square meters in three weeks, goals previously achieved twenty years ago with more than a month of survey campaign.
